About the Event
Join us for an evening where we’ll meet to unwind, reset, and restore. We are delighted to have Yhara Quiroz lead us in an hour long Restorative Yoga class. Yhara's unique teaching style is derived from her medical background and her passion for yoga, thus, she will be utilizing principals based in science and yoga to help us calm our nervous system and tap into our bodies' natural healing abilities.
We’ll start with a grounding meditation and then gently transition into three or four restorative poses to give our bodies space to melt and release any tension we’ve been carrying from the week. As our bodies soak up the rejuvenating stillness, we’ll be invited to cultivate mindful breathing, allowing consciousness to drop a little further into deeper realms of relaxation.
Allow yourself to show up as you are and receive. This practice is readily available for anyone with physical limitations. No need to be flexible- this is all about getting as comfortable as possible.
What You'll Need:
- Comfortable and quiet place to practice
- 1-2 blankets (equal size preffered if you have them)
- 1-2 firm pillows
- 2 yoga blocks or big sturdy tupperwares of equal size.
- Eyemask (if you’d prefer)
- Headphones recommended
- Any other items that bring you comfort and help you create your sacred space (a cup of tea, cystals, candles, incense, etc).
About Your Instructor:
If you had asked Yhara [yāRRa] 10 years ago what her life would look like today, she would have envisioned herself taking care of patients in a traditional western medical setting. Once a medical doctor, she gave up practicing medicine in order to completely immerse herself in her life’s greatest passion--yoga. Yhara began practicing yoga about a decade ago and quickly noted that her yoga practice elevated all areas of her life and she grew in ways she had never imagined possible. Yhara firmly believes that an authentic yoga practice has the capacity to transform an individual’s life for the better many times over. She is devoted to helping others learn yoga and to her own continuous growth and transformation.
Yhara is a certified 500 hr. level yoga teacher who holds various specialty certifications, including Restorative Yoga with Judith Lasater, Yoga Nidra, Sound Practitioner, and Children's Yoga Instructor, to name a few. She has been enthusiastically sharing yoga in English and Spanish to various student populations including yoga studios; health and fitness clubs; jail; special needs students at the Mohammad Ali Parkinson’s Center at Barrows Neurological and cancer centers; for yoga teacher training; and at ASU for college credit. Yhara’s uniquely authentic teaching style is derived from knowledge gained throughout her life, infused with loving-kindness and playfulness, with the intention of helping guide students to rediscover the innate love, peace, and joy within us all.
